Our Mission
To prevent alcohol,
tobacco, and other drug use among youth in Conway County.
Coalition History
In October of 1999, Conway County leaders met with Arkansans
For Drug Free Youth and Governor Huckabee to discuss the need for Colleges and
Communities to come together by forming Coalitions to address the alcohol,
tobacco, and other drug prevention needs of their communities. The "Petit Jean
College/Community Alcohol/Drug Prevention Coalition" was formed as a result of
this meeting. They were dedicated to Substance Abuse Prevention in Conway
County.
On the 11th day of October, 2001, the Conway County Alcohol, Tobacco, and
Other Drug Prevention Coalition received its "Certificate of Incorporation of
Domestic Non-Profit Corporation" from the State of Arkansas.
Through the years, our goal has been to reduce the use and abuse of alcohol,
tobacco, and other drugs in Conway County. We have utilized grant money
from the Master Tobacco Settlement, local in-kind donations, and other sources
to influence change.
We educate and empower community stakeholders and impactors of youth to
reduce substance abuse. We train community leaders about local substance
abuse and how to strategically plan to reduce it. We advocate for policies
and practices that will create environments to reduce ATOD use. We work
together to weed out the "root causes" of substance use.
